Mr. Saravanan-Vaa Nanba Vaa

Mr. Saravanan being one of the founders of the 'Vaa Nanba Vaa' organisation has devoted his life for the betterment of Madurai. The non governmental organisation aims at creating a cleaner, and greener Madurai. It was started by a group of friends who were enlightened with the idea of making a difference in the surrounding by skipping their  cricket matches on sundays. Initially it began as a small group but as days went by many volunteers joined hands to achieve the purpose. Activities such as cleaning, painting walls to convey social messages, and afforestation are taken up by them. They have also worked on the cutting down of karuvelam trees, cleaning the banks of river vaigai, planting, and most importantly taking care of the planted saplings. Initially, they worked on their area of residence, and later chose different areas that needed their service. The inner drive that lead them to the profession of social work is the love for their city, said Mr. Saravanan. Though there are quite a lot of social workers, there are very few who are committed to the task of cleaning the garbage dumped in open spaces. Apart from the tasks, they have also played a major role in helping the needy during the floods in chennai, and in encouraging the students of villages who have managed to secure ranks in the board exams but are left unnoticed. The group does not receive funds on a regular basis,  but are run with occasional help from philanthropists. Im a busy world where people are reluctant to pay attention to the needs of nature, here they are a group who have dedictaed a lifetime for the dream of creating a cleaner, and greener Madurai. Lets render our support, and acknowledge their priceless service by volunteering, or by contributing saplings, or other requirements. People like them strive for a better society by putting in so much of effort, and very little expectations. Lets appreciate, acknowledge, and join hands in creating a better city.
